Key Facts

  • Project: Eden Park Upgrade
  • Client: Fletcher Construction
  • Location: Eden Park, Auckland

After the Bledisloe Cup game on the 2nd August 2008 Eden Park began its make over for the 2011 World Cup.

Electrix won the contract to install four temporary lighting towers. These are required for night lighting when the existing east stand is dismantled.

The design and position of the lights is important to allow all areas of the ground to have consistent lighting. Under extreme time constraints and only a three week window the lights were constructed on the cricket pitch and the 30 meter masks set in place by a crane.

The Electrix contract also included additional installations such as the relocation of the switch room in the East Terracing, the installation of a new HV cable to supply the transformer in the West Stand, which in turn controlled a new MSB back feeding to the existing MSB new kitchen installation in the West Stand and mains distribution to the Cricket Pavilion.

The importance in the design and to position of the lights was extremely important to allow all areas of the ground to have consistent lighting.
